You have to love them. I love how people say Holly was a stepford wife and had no opinions of her own or would do whatever Robert said. this is a classic example of Holly asserting herself and proving to Robert that her opinion was valid too-- without belittling him, fighting with him, or aggressive action. The reason some people say that Holly was a stepford wife is that most of those people never SAW Robert and Holly. Or if they did, they saw very little.

It was a different time back then.

You put it very well - Holly would use charm, sassyness and intelligence rather than confrontation, lying and subversion which is what Anna specialized in. Holly was confident in her relationship with Robert until Anna came along, while Anna, with reason, always hid her insecurities about Robert beneath this aggressive demeanor and using manipulation. What a stark contrast in those two relationships! I'll take charm and wit any day :-)

I wholeheartedly agree with you. I never saw her that way either. She never let Robert bully her into anything she didn't want to do and she never used emotional blackmail to make him do anything he didn't want to do. They talked things out and if in the end they didn't agree, well they didn't and each made their reasons clear, but it wasn't the start of WWIII - someone had to give and it was over, no resentment and no "payback". That's what a healthy relationship looks like. Too bad some people don't appreciate that about them. As someone else stated here, many of the critics have never really seen Holly and Robert during the course of their entire relationship.

I enjoyed the WIB storyline immensely. Although not a working or career woman, it showed Holly defending women's causes. She did so, however, by attempting to explain her stance to Robert, who at times, did seem rather chauvinistic. She tried to rationalize the situation to him...not by yelling or screaming, but in a matured respectul manner. One of the things I enjoyed about their relationship was the respect that they showed to one another. In the end, Robert agreed to additional training for the WIB.

So true. The WIB wasn't my favorite storyline but it didn't have Robert and Holly cheating on each other and for that I am grateful. I truly disliked the WIB storyline. I didn't see it as anything other than fill while the Beatrice murder was winding down and the Mexican adventure was heating up.
