Reading the background on these new writers, I don't even see a prior connection to GH that would give me any confidence that either of them care about GH's history from 30+ years ago (although that's what gave soaps their staying power--honoring their history while weaving in new characters!!) They have no interest in veteran characters; they are focused on a younger audience with frivolous, shallow storytelling.
And I agree with Mike that I don't think RnA is going to happen either (the one silver lining). What disappoints me is that it's like they're trying to erase the fact that Robert Scorpio was head over heels in love with a woman other than Anna. Actually, I don't even see where he was head over heels for Anna. I honestly believe that Robert's love for Anna (more like friendship & comfort) is a completely different love than what he had/has for Holly (passionate, soulmate and as he even said once, almost painful that he loved Holly so much--swoon!)
I still believe that GH's days are numbered; I'd be surprised if it were still on 5 years from now. But what I want to see onscreen as it wraps up is a happy ending confirmation that Robert & Holly have reunited & are traveling the world while Robert heads up the WSB! #RnHDestiny

When those words were uttered out of Robert's mouth, I knew I would no longer watch this show. My only reason for holding on was for a possible Holly mention or sighting. After that one, I am done. You are so right, Mike. That remark was truly unnecessary. What are the writers trying to do. It is as if everyone wants to forget about Robert and Holly's history. I feel that this remark disrespected Emma, and RnH fans. I do not know how Tristan uttered those words. It was disrespectful to him also, because gentleman do not compare wives/women...little boys do. When a show attempts to destroy the history of a couple that did so much for the show as Emma and Tristan did, that show deserves whatever it gets!

Robert & Holly were THE reason GH's ratings remained solid after LnL's departure. They carried the show!! I know Tristan may not have the same "pull" that he used to have over the script, but come on--there were so many other ways Robert could have complimented Anna without dismissing Holly! I no longer watch GH, so I didn't see this episode (thank goodness), but just hearing about it burned me up! I look forward to its cancellation.

Louisa, I did not want to believe it, but Tristan said it with a little smirk. I know he does not have the clout that he once did. I mentioned this on another board, but was admonished for saying it. Tristan is a professional. He has been in this business long enough to have gotten around this line in many different ways. He could have just said Anna is a very capable woman. I truly do not believe that he is invested in Robert and Holly anymore, and it probably is because of personal reasons. I just hate that I invested so much time in Robert and Holly. It is like they never existed. I have been e-mailing and calling the studio with my feelings....not that it will do any good. It just makes me feel better to let them know how pissed I am. It is like Robert never gave a damn about Holly. This is crazy, and for TPTB to let this happen is insane. If the show would get canceled tomorrow, I would applaud!

To be honest, I wonder how invested Tristan is in Robert at this point. The actor is kind of being volleyed between two soaps with neither offering a contract to him (that we know about at least right now). He may be just as jaded and sleepwalking through his lines for all we know. I think we've all read numerous interviews of TR over the years, and he seems to run hot & cold on his opinion of GH. Another reason why I wouldn't mind seeing the show put out of its misery.

I hate that they made him say that about Holly. She is a more capable person than most of the characters that are on the show now.It seems that Robert isn't on for his own story, but was brought on to prop up Patrick and Robin's reunion and departure and now finding justice for Duke for Anna.
This show has no respect for the characters that made the show good. They killed off Duke in order for Anna to have a sleazy one night grief session with disposable plot point character and prop up Julian's conversion into "good" guy.Mac and Felicia are rarely on and now Robert is back but we hear absolutely nothing on his life with Holly. With all the newbies being hired left and right,I guess writing a competent story for Robert even ackowledging just a few words of love for Holly is too much of a strain for the writers to handle.

With all the newbies being hired left and right,I guess writing a competent story for Robert even ackowledging just a few words of love for Holly is too much of a strain for the writers to handle. You hit the nail on the head. I hate that Robert said that as well (and so glad I wasn't watching to hear it--I have no interest in watching Robert without Holly or acknowledgment of her). But like you said, TR was brought in as a prop, and as such, I don't think he felt so strongly about that one line to fight to change it. I wouldn't doubt that in his mind he thought it was a stupid line, but he's not on contract, so why fight over it like he used to back in the day. With that being said, I still remember TR's interviews from 2007 & 2008. In 2007, he said the writers just needed to take a minute to write Robert & Holly back together and have them walk off into the sunset together. In 2008, he said that Robert should have gotten on that plane with Holly in that Markham Island storyline and left with her because there wasn't anything left for him, and he's kind of right because all they ever bring him back for is to quickly rescue Robin & Anna, and then he's gone again! Even though he says that he tries to stay out of the RnH/RnA debate, if you read between the lines in pretty much all of his interviews, it's pretty obvious that TR believes that Robert & Holly belong together and that they (and us their fans) deserve a permanent happy ending, but TPTB have their own agenda, that you described above.

Has anyone else here noticed Tristan's absence from Twitter recently? He hasn't tweeted in two weeks.
Update: He just tweeted today, but nothing significant. Still been pretty quiet.

I was walking by my Dad'd TV yesterday, he hadn't turned it off while eating lunch (a common occurrence) and Y&R was on. Apparently, Jill ended up in the hospital, and she blamed "her stupid husband" for stealing from her and putting here there. Do you think that maybe TRs stint there is over, and he might possibly be back at GH?

Do you think that maybe TRs stint there is over, and he might possibly be back at GH? I don't think so. TR's role on Y&R right now is still recurring, but TR has said that it's a longer arc this time, so I think he still has some time on Y&R. Also, while I would "never say never", I don't think TR & TPTB at GH are on the best of terms right now, especially after TR bared all during his drunk tweeting incident on Twitter a couple of months ago. I (and others on this board) witnessed that event in real time, and the jabs he took at GH and the writing probably sealed the fate of Robert being nothing more than a presence on the other side of a phone call!! Even if they did decide to forgive TR & bring Robert back, I wouldn't expect much from it; they only bring him back for 3-5 episodes to deliver some news, and then he's gone. TR is 70 years old now; GH won't give him a contract.

I missed it. Thank goodness! I like to remember him as he was in his heyday anyway.

I missed it. Thank goodness! I like to remember him as he was in his heyday anyway. One thing that was cool about it though, was that he really acknowledged that GH was fun & well-done back in the day, but that TPTB have pretty much ruined it by ignoring & destroying the history that we all know. He also reiterated that RnH was a couple that deserved closure, but that it wasn't going to happen (because of TPTB--he implied). He said that anything that would make sense for pretty much any storyline--we won't see it.
I think a lot of us found it refreshing that he was so candid and validated our loyalty (and resulting disappointment) with how things have gone. I'm sure it pissed off Nathan, Frank & Co, though!!
