So, what does everyone think now that Ron Carlivati has been fired? Personally, I don't think it matters much. Frank Valentini is still there, and to me, the Executive Producer calls all the shots. And I think Ron did like the vets. He just didn't get any back up. Not that he was a great writer... But I'm not sure GH is going to get any better under these other recycled soap writers. Thoughts?

My issue is that Ron is the one who asked for the vets and wanted to write for them. Now, I doubt we will see them again.
I was super unhappy with the treatment of Duke and Anna and Ian Buchanan. Although, I feel like FV had a far bigger hand in all of it than anyone knows and he will admit. I think his ability to work with an every shrinking budget has saved FV and will continue to save him.
I blame RC for killing off Duke. I think THAT was RC's choice. He could have easily disappeared into the vet closet or gone off to Scotland for awhile. I don't see GH improving. The whole thing makes me sad. I would have liked to see what RC could have done w/o TG there interfering with stories.

I'm betting the - no bringing anyone back from the dead - wouldn't be in your post if either Robert or Holly were dead!!
Killing off Duke is what made me stop watching GH, pure and simple. I would be fine if I just saw a shot of Duke somewhere, so we know he's alive. They don't have to bring him back right now. So sorry, but I'm not willing to let him stay in his fake grave.
Other than that, I would like to see this bloated cast reduced in size. Franco, Nina, Silas, Morgan, Kiki.....a waste of airtime. IMO. I would like to see stories that take awhile to develop, and have an actual planned ending instead of just winging it. My God, does anyone realize just how long the PD story was? It may have dragged a little in parts, ( Dr. Jerrold......zzzzzzzzzzzzz ) but it was awesome. That's the kind of writing I miss. I'm not tuning back in yet. I'm going to wait awhile.
As for Ron wanting to bring vets back........sure he did. For one big sweeps story and then he didn't know what the hell to do with them. I hated him more for his spiteful tweets towards fans than for his writing. He's a hack. He's gone.

Ron needed to go, but the ones they brought to replace him aren't much better. Tbh, the last writing regime I really loved was the Labines (though I didn't like everything they did) and that was 20 years ago.

She wrote the biggest piece of garbage for the 4th of July episode. It was horrible and embarrassing for everyone involved- actors and crew, director etc. That day was horrible. For years later, you couldn't even mention that episode. And that day Claire Labine came up on set and told us that it was "her gift to everyone". It was a gift no one wanted.

I watched GL off and on but I must not have been watching that year. I suppose a writer can be good for one particular soap but not for others. Douglas Marland comes to mind. I loved his work on GL and ATWT (for the most post)...liked his time on GH...but thought he was completely wrong for The Doctors.

it was 2001. Labine didn't show up on set much. Maybe saw her that one time.
but thinking back...it was the 2002 episode that was far worse and that was another writer. 2002 was the embarrassing episode. It was done big time because of 9/11 and maybe other people around the country didn't realize- but the Trade Center was still burning.

It may have dragged a little in parts, ( Dr. Jerrold......zzzzzzzzzzzzz ) but it was awesome. I believe that story actually started with the avalanche. I think the man that robbed Luke and ended up dead was supposed to draw him into the dangerous area and the DVX engineered the avalanche. Of course, that could have just been a ploy to get Tony his vacation time. But I've always been curious as to know how Natalie knew the survivor was Luke. I'm sure they had pictures, but he could have ended up dead instead of the other man. But if that's not when, Grant arrived the last week of January, just in time for sweeps month, and Holly and Luke were rescued the first of November, with the fallout wrapping up the rest of the month. Of course, we all know that RnH's consummation and fallout was the May sweeps that year, following their February marriage. RnH timeline: (sweeps) Feb: Married May: Gave in to their feelings Nov: Established their marriage
