I was reading an article written by Sam Ford entitled "The Demise of Soap Operas. . .". This is a snippet from a comment on that article written by Linda Marshall-Smith, creator of the website Soapdom.com. Her comment is from about 3 years ago, but it speaks directly to what I was saying about why TPTB aren't giving us our Robert & Holly:
"There are, what I have dubbed, fan factions. The legions of soapers who love one couple or other, or who are dying to see their favorite veteran characters on air all the time. When you please one faction, you, by default, alienate another. Younger viewers no nothing of the patriarch who may have been the hunk 25 years ago, the one that got you hooked on your favorite soap way back then, but in order to now hook a new, younger audience, an audience that will remain for 25 years from now, you must create and write for younger characters. Bottom line #1: You can't please everyone all the time. Writers and producers must craft story that makes the most sense for the overall good of the show on a long term basis."
This is what I think is running through the executives' and writers' heads when I hear what is happening on GH.

Did I hear that Robert told Anna that he and Holly haven't been together in years? Some more dumb ass writing. That is why I am asking. I cannot watch this mess anymore!

Unfortunately, the stories the writers are crafting make no sense and aren't for the overall good of anything, or any faction except the Sonny faction who get to see him EVERY SINGLE DAY. If they really and truly want to do something that would benefit the show, recognize that the mob's time and more importantly, Sonny's time is up. Stop with "Sonny good mobster, every other mobster bad" mentality and move on from that. And there really is no reason to alienate an entire group of fans ... I don't need to see RnH on air all the time. But mentioning them would not kill the show. Seriously, if Robert would just once say, "I love Holly and I always have. I was stupid for losing all those years with her." That would not cause the show to be canceled and the RnH faction would be deliriously happy. One big problem, IMO that plagues the show is the writers have their favorites and they tend to write more for them and forget everyone else. TPTB should realize GH needs it's veteran characters as much ... if not more than their new characters. I know. I don't need Robert & Holly back on full time either--I just want an acknowledgement that they're together and/or meant to be together. Writing one line for this would not change the landscape of the show (unlike what Guza did when he completely trashed Holly's character). It's just not a priority for TPTB, because like you said, it's all about Jasam/Liason, Julexis, etc. I'm so glad I have no interest whatsoever in this "triangle" and these couples, and I continue to have no desire to tune in to watch anything on GH.

Hi Priscilla: It's no secret that I don't watch the show, but I do check in to Twitter and the boards to get a peek on what's happening. I don't think Robert said this because the RnH'ers on here and on Twitter would be blowing up the sites!! So, at least at this point in time, I don't believe that he made that statement. The worst was the "capable" line he said to Mac in reference to Anna, which implicitly dissed Holly. Anyone feel free to correct me if I'm wrong about this!

Ok, I may have to correct MYSELF because apparently Robert did say something yesterday to piss people off. I'm checking into the specifics.
So ridiculous if the writers are going out of their way to erase Holly. GH will permanently be dead to me!

Did I hear that Robert told Anna that he and Holly haven't been together in years? Some more dumb ass writing. That is why I am asking. I cannot watch this mess anymore! Okay I have been trying to find what he said since so many are pissed at him. I could not find the scene on YT (unless I wanna pay for it and that ain't happening) but from what I gather they were talking at a bar or something and she thanked him for helping her with this Duke/Carlos crap and he said, "Well where else would I go these days for excitement? I've always had my best adventures with you." (this is not an exact quote, it's pieced from things I've read on Twitter and the GH board) o_0 really? As I said before, everytime he opens his mouth on these new visits makes me dislikes him just that much more. Right now I am at the point that I may have to kill him in a fanfic, just for fun of course. Yes, that's basically what he said, according to Mike and some others on Twitter. So I guess his adventures with Luke were non-existent too, right??? The comment wasn't as bad as we thought, but still--yuck!! I said all of this on Twitter, but repeating here: These writers know NOTHING about GH history--it's like they just know a character's "Summary." They just know that Robert & Anna were agents back in the day, and wrote something to run with that. Forget the fact that they were married for 2 seconds the first time around and only about 2 months the second time! How many adventures could they have had aside from the few we've seen, which usually involve rescuing Robin from her 17th kidnapping?? I've lost hope with this new writing regime, and will continue to watch the REAL Robert Scorpio on YouTube--the one who almost cried (more than once) when he thought he'd lost his beloved Holly. The one who told Holly that he would go anywhere to talk to her. The one who told Holly that he loved her in a way that he never loved any other woman. Maybe we'll see that Robert again before or when this show is cancelled.
