Did you know that every year since 1981 GH has gone down in the ratings except for one year? Can you guess what year that was? Yep - 1983. Ahhh.....fans loved the falling in love part of Robert and Holly. 1981-1982 11.2 1982-1983 9.8 1983-1984 10.0

1983 was a great year! I was always a fan of GH before 1983 but 1983 is the one year that I can remember being the best year ever.

Especially when they haven't been on the show. It's amazing. I guess it's a testament to TR and ES on how wonderfully they played Robert and Holly.

I also think that they "as People " were the reason the fan stuck with them so long. They both knew how to involve the fans and make them feel special. I remember getting personal letters from Emma and her sister as a teenager and thinking what Hot shit I was, like no one else had that happen. LOL both Tristan and Emma have always seem to be very fan based (cough cough cough some have changed Cough cough cough). I will be 100 telling my great great great grand kids about them LOL (or at least my kids now joke me about that LKOL)

Since I don't pay attention to such things, are all soaps at an all time low now for ratings? I wonder how much of this is due to youtube. That Cazigirl has over 10k people who subscribe to watch her daily uploads of GH and AMC.

That Cazigirl has over 10k people who subscribe to watch her daily uploads of GH and AMC. Well 10,000 is only 10,000 people. If we're looking at the difference between GH going from a 2.5 to a 2.2 - that's 300,000 people. Then again if I watch GH, I watch it on YT. While I do think soap viewership is declining because there are so many other options and more women work outside of the home, I think QUALITY is a huge factor. The shows just aren't good anymore. I honestly don't care if there are explosions, or location shoots or shiny new sets. I care about story. Give me a good story and might actually sit down and watch the entire show. Also, I don't think TPTB have a CLUE what the fans of daytime drama want to see. They think they have to "train" us what to like. Well, it's not working. GH's first clue should have been back in Feb 2006 when they brought back TR and ES. Ratings shot up to 3.3. Now GH sits as low as 1.9. Fans don't want to see their all-time favorite characters DESTROYED. And unfortunately for them, they still don't have a clue. I predict GH will be canceled within 5 years unless ABC wakes up and shakes thing up a bit behind the scenes.

I will be curious to see what Constance Towers did for the ratings and what Emma Samms will do this time. SOC has a semi-accurate Article about her return. "Brian Frons, said he was "thrilled that an accomplished actress like Emma [would] will be returning to reprise such a legacy character." www.soapcentral.com/gh/news/2009/0420-samms.php

I didn't discover GH until late in 1983. Robert & Holly had me hooked from the first day I happened upon them. Never dreamed in a million years I would still be hooked after all these years. Honestly, they really are "Timeless". Their story still stands up to anything that is being put out there this day and time.

I cant believe I am hooked again in 2009, Im not hooked on the show just the couple and their child. Too bad we didn't get to see that child grow up. I never knew she had a child until three years ago when I got the uncontrollable urge to relive those years. I left the show shortly after they did. No spark left. So I didn't know they butchered the relationship. But hey, he and darling Anna's relationship was never butchered like that.
