I'm watching the s/l on robertannafan on YT (thanks to her) ... I know... Robert at this time felt guilt for not telling Holly about his past but I don't understand why he became so cold with her. His behavior annoys me. This is not Robert's...
But maybe I missed something because of the language

It was a lot in that story that really annoyed me and Robert pushing Holly away was#1 on the list. I was so used to R&H working together and not seeing them worked together was torture.

Holly was the victim there and I don't understand why he pushed her away. So I can understand why she was so hurt when she discovered the truth

I'm not that far into RAfan's playlist (Anna's just arrived), but I'm realizing 1985 was REALLY depressing. Every couple is a mess: Rick and Ginny, Frisco and Felicia, Grant and Celia, RnH, Alan and Monica, Tony and Tania, oh and Kevin O'Connor arrives to screw with Terry. I guess Bobbie and Jake are doing okay?
And then there's Anna and Sean who make me wonder who I want to strangle more...it doesn't help that it ends with that total downer Asian Quarter story. That's the only 80's "adventure" story that I can think of that didn't include some comedy and FUN. I wonder how much writing Guza did that year!?

You're better people than I am if you can stomach watching the arrival of Anna Devane. I watched it once after I got my DVDs a few years back and I will never watch it again. Yuck, yuck, yuck. I couldn't stand Anna Devane and how she would pop up at the most inopportune moments. (And I came to love Anna eventually).
I think the thing that annoyed me most is that Tristan and Emma hardly had any scenes together to work their magic. And then don't get me started about the time that Holly got kidnapped on the train and Robert was pretending to be married to Anna. Hated it! But at least we got our happy ending for which I will be eternally grateful to Gloria Monty.

This would be why I'm way behind on that playlist; I don't really want to see this again. If it makes you feel better, I have seen almost ZERO RnA from April-ish '91 to Holly's arrival ... I keep meaning to, but can't bring myself to do it.

I hardly recognize both Robert and Holly in this s/l. He was so cold with her and she was whiny. The writers wrote Holly without her sense of humor and without her stubbornness

It was sheer torture watching this in real time. I hated Anna with the power of a thousand suns and truthfully, there is a part of me that never got over that hate. I can't begin to express how much I couldn't stand this.
Remember how Holly chose Robert because he loved and TRUSTED her. She knew they had trust and she knew that would only make their love grow while she and Luke did not have that trust. Robert having a secret ex-wife so flew in the face of that trust. Oh those horrendous flashbacks to their awful love story.
I am breaking out in hives just recalling it all now. The worst part was finding out Emma was going to Dynasty so we really didn't know what was going to happen. I had this horrible vision that Holly would leave Robert and he would be reunited with Anna.
Thankfully that didn't happen. We got our happy ending. A very perfect happy ending. And I think because of that, it takes some of the sting out of seeing it again now. I know it all turns out the right way---the way it was supposed to. Well, at least in 1985.
I cannot believe how long we have had to go with these two not being together. Robert and Holly fans are certainly long suffering fans. But what we do have of them is pure gold and I wouldn't trade it for anything.

I kind of stopped watching, will catch up later I suppose. Am wondering, since a lot of us ended up liking Anna with Duke: if she hadn't wormed her way into RnH's house, worked with Sean, planted the Buddhas ... would we have hated her as much and for as long? What if she was truly sorry about the double agent thing and came back just to expose Sean? At some point in '85, she's telling Robert to go find Holly, she's totally hurt by the way he's toying with her, and my anger shifts -- for a bit -- off of her and on to him. I think THAT's what I have a hard time watching.

I think THAT's what I have a hard time watching. Honestly, I just hated the fact that Anna existed. Ugh! I guess I wouldn't have minded so much if she was an old girlfriend. I just thought Robert would have told Holly about being married before. Then again, since he was a *secret* agent, he was a secretive man. I just hated how the relationship of Robert and Holly changed so much. TR and ES didn't have as many scenes together, etc. I *hated* Anna. But I loved her with Duke. I guess I have to give a lot of credit to Finola for that. I'm just glad I don't have relive those scenes. Ugh.

Yeah ... I think sometimes it's quite convenient that she DID plant those buddhas and did start off working with Sean, b/c I'd have hated her regardless. I needed RnH to get a happy ending and BOTH be offscreen, I then needed Anna to get over her Robert obsession before I could even think about liking her. If Duke hadn't come along, I'd probably still hate her!

Yeah I feel the same way. I hated the very existence of her. Wife and mother of his only kid. Had she just been an ex-girlfriend and no kid it wouldn't have been so bad maybe.
Plus what compounded the hate for me anyway, was the fear that they were trying to replace Holly with Anna.
Duke was a true miracle worker. But I never came to love Anna apart from him. On her own, I have no interest. As a romantic pairing with Robert, I would hate her every bit as much as I did in 1985. But with Duke, it's all good.

A lot of nice R&H in the clips I've been watching 156-158...
