You know it's funny, I've been watching this story (thanks to no2souls) because of course I wanted to see Holly's beginnings. Burt and Robert's relationship is what seems interesting to me the most, because it's very different than what it became later. Well he does give up his badge/take a leave a couple of times later (going after Sean in '85 and Faison in '92) so he doesn't have to follow police rules. I think the should have used some of these flashbacks to explain Burt becoming Mr. Big. B/C really, they could have made his resentment of Robert more believable if they'd shown how Robert had thumbed his nose at Burt in his pre-commish days...I think the post-82 Robert is just about his sense of ethics in his job, he indicated a few times that police rules were a bit different from wsb rules or night club owner rules!

Recycled sets: Did anybody else think that Sean what's his name's bank office became Robert's office and that Holly's room at Kelly's became Luke's room at the casino?

Recycled sets. The sauna that Luke, Laura and Robert sat in on the boat to the Cassadine Island ended up being Robert and Holly's sauna in their home.

soaps always recycle sets. the set where fakeAnna was kidnapped was also the eckert house when they first came on the show.
but sets can be broken down to 2ft, 4ft. and 6ft walls and doors(with the door jams) and staircases-- they can be reassembled and repainted/papered into different sets with old set pieces.
more recently the Zzzz house was part of Bobbie's brownstone and it was used in Alcazars too.

Unfortunately, TPTB over at GH seem to be able to resist HARD! Well, they're a little soft in the head whatever is right- they do wrong. GH should wake up and see the potential. Of course, they should see it's time for a change too, but they can't even see that.

Back to Luke & Holly, as I'm watching the Oil Scam, I can see why she was reluctant to let go of Luke later on, they really had very little time together (most of the time on the run, he didn't trust her) AND I can see the setup to the RnH marriage starting around the time they're leaving Canada...there's a scene when he puts his hand on her briefly as comfort, then the scenes in Kelly's when they return and he's concerned about her/stands up for her. Stories were *really* well planned back then.

So, is this RnH's first kiss (at about 7:50)?

The best part is I doubt anybody saw their marriage coming back then, but looking back you can definitely see the build to it (even in the Robert/Jackie scenes when he's saying he doesn't know what he want as far as commitment/career & when Holly gets arrested and the judge or DA refers to Holly's citizenship); now THAT is great storytelling.

Oh yeah, I never saw an RnH marriage coming. Holly was such a success being paired with Luke after Laura that I never would've imagined they would mess with that. Of course, Gloria's plan was not to have RnH long term but it just goes to show how saavy she was. When she struck gold---even by accident---she listened to the viewers and went with it.
