These are the only ratings I could find. It doesn't go by month but as you can see the ratings dropped considerably in 1982 and then went up in 1983. There's only one thing I attribute that to: Robert and Holly. Years as #1 series Year(s) Household Rating 1979-1980 9.9 1980-1981 11.4 1981-1982 11.2 1982-1983 9.8 1983-1984 10.0 1984-1985 9.1 1985-1986 9.2 1986-1987 8.3 1987-1988 8.1 en.wikipedia.org/wiki/General_Hospital

Well I was mesmerized by Holly from day one and I think because of that, I was really open to Luke and Holly. I liked them alot---loved their love song, Baby Come to Me---I was totally enjoying all of it. But there was no way I could long deny the incredible-ness of Robert and Holly. It totally eclipsed what she had with Luke.

So does anyone remember that song that used to be played quite a bit for Luke and Holly back in the day---of course, not Baby Come to Me but the one about the hourglass being all out of sand ?
I remember wanting to have that song soooo bad back then but I had no idea what the name of it was or who sang it. I even remember my mom saying she thought it actually sounded like Tony Geary singing. I don't know why it took me until today---over 25 years later to suddenly decide to type the lyrics into a Yahoo search. At least the lyrics I could remember off hand:
"What will we do now, you tell me. The hourglass is all out of sand"
Well---BOOM ! Instantly, up comes the song. It's by Larry Gatlin and the Gatlin Bros and it's called "I've Done Enough Dyin' Today". I just downloaded it from Amazon for .99. I cannot believe I finally have this song. I remember once buying a 45 single called Hourglass by a band I didn't really know just on the off chance it was that song.
Now if only my other quest could end---Robert and Holly's instrumental saxophone music ! The bad thing with that is there are no lyrics to type in. I don't know how we will ever know who performed that song and what it's name is. But hope springs eternal !

I believe they did but I have been looking and most of my credits are cut out. I am curious to find that saxaphone music as well. I have been searching the internet but cant find it.

Jill Phelps was the music director back in the 80s. Maybe you can ask her? ;D

How does that Shazam thing work ? I know someone at work had some app on their phone where you could play a song and it could find it so I was wondering if something like that could work for our ever elusive saxophone song ?
I don't recall credits for music back then but maybe there was. I know I used to think that that song was just GH music---you know---like any of their other background, original music. But then I heard it in a dept store once so I figured it had to be a real song.
So funny about JFP. Yes, please go back to music---you were great at that. You suck at being an EP !

This is not music related, but Luke & Holly related ... am curious what were Luke's plans for making a living after selling the star? He planned to sell just before going off to the mountain but can't remember if he said what he'd be doing once he did. Does anybody know?

I'm a veteran "guest," and I've long been silently grateful to all of you for keeping me company in my Robert and Holly love.
Now I can thank you in a more concrete way. I've finally registered so I can answer the mystery of RnH's sax music, which I've just discovered. (I'm especially glad that Mike was the one who raised the question in this thread. Mike, your unflagging optimism boosts my own and makes me smile. I'm happy to have a way to repay you!) It's a piece by David Sanborn called "Love Will Come Someday" from his 1981 album As We Speak.
My frustrating search for the Mexican pool music continues. I'll let you know if I ever find it.
To everyone at this wonderful site, all the generous YouTube posters and talented fan fiction writers, thank you. You've brought me such pleasure and helped me survive Guza's nightmare.
And now, Robert's back! I'm anxious for today and what he'll say about Holly. But thanks to Cartini, I'm confident that RnH are finally on their way to happily ever after!
